It’s about a friend who believes in you amidst your chaotic life.” Across 14 tracks, the multi-instrumentalist thrives in an unpredictable environment, drawing inspiration from both the past and present as he reemerges as Yellow Days. The creative journey saw Yellow Days collaborate with a jazz fusion band from Newcastle to help realize his vision. The work has a vintage feel, highlighted by the Ed Sullivan Show-inspired backdrop of Clint Frift’s video for ‘Sharon’ and the clear influences of Ray Charles throughout. Yellow Days views the time between his 2020 release, ‘A Day in a Yellow Boat’, and the new album as his life’s ‘lost years’; however, he believes this period was essential for his transformation. “That lost time was crucial. I used that time to really hone my playing and singing. To me, it all feels worthwhile,” he reflects.
